Exposition d'un grand nombre de tirages inédits de Martha Cooper et Henry Chalfant. Ils produiront aussi des tirages des œuvres de Blade qui  exposera également les tirages originaux et inédits de ses quelques 5.000 trains peints.

-------  Nasty du 26 septembre au 06 novembre 2009  ------- 



En reconstituant une station de métro, la galerie Bailly souhaite rendre hommage aux supports urbains ainsi qu’aux artistes s’en inspirant. Les plaques de métro et le mobilier RATP qui porteront la griffe de Nasty remplaceront les habituelles toiles, présentant ainsi les oeuvres de l’artiste dans un environnement souterrain.

Depuis ses débuts en 1988, son style coloré et son trait parfait font rapidement de Nasty une des figures majeures du mouvement grâce à ses fresques bariolées et ses immenses lettrages à vocation publicitaire. Cette renommée lui permet de transmettre aux plus jeunes générations l’héritage des artistes américains, pères du mouvement graffiti. Très médiatisé après avoir marqué de son empreinte le métro parisien, Nasty impose le graffiti et ses expériences calligraphiques dans l’univers de la publicité. Ainsi, en 1998, il produit ses premières plaques de métro qu’il récupère au détour de son chemin. Depuis 2008, il expose à la galerie Bailly contemporain.

Avec son exposition Etat des lieux, Agnès b. nous plonge dans le mouvement graffiti. 30 artistes ont été invités à créer une oeuvre pensée comme une continuité de son activité dans la rue à travers un médium : du graff au dripping, en passant par la vidéo, l'installation, la sculpture, le dessin ou la performance. Cette exposition met en évidence la multiplicité des formes et des courants du mouvement graffiti aujourd'hui.

Mural exhibition in Liège.

In 1947, three young artists Louis Deltour, Edmond Dubrunfaut and Roger Somville signed the manifest giving birth to "Forces murales". Engaged artists, they aimed their art to serve the people. They find their inspiration in people’s lives, work, struggles, tragedies, victories and hope. They revived the art of tapestry and Muralism in Belgium. Collective and active, their expression was also fundamentally political. Although the adventure of the group Forces murales ended in 1959, their ideal leaves its mark on their art production long after.

Brussels spray paint museum

In 2007, about 1,500 square meters of the stop’s wall were legally covered in by 60 graffiti artists. Entitled “The Walk”, the project was assessed positively, both by locals and tram passengers. Because of the tremendous response, the authorities decided to extend the project by another 3,000 square meters in order to create the continent’s biggest graffiti fresco.



The organization Tarantino coordinate the works. Set up to keep Brussels youngsters off the street, Tarantino is devoted to legal street graffiti. The organisation managed to get hold of some of Belgium’s best graffiti artists.



Surrounded by the Atomium, the Heysel Stadium and the Japanese Tower, the tram stop is located in Laken (Brussels, Belgium).

For it’s inaugural art exhibition WE’RE OF present Chuck « KOOR » Hargrove ‘’THE 11th LETTER‘’ The 11th Letter… is the title of this solo exhibition of New York Graffiti Art Pioneer Chuck « KOOR » Hargrove. Koor started his artist journey in streets of the South Bronx in the mid 70’s, where he soon after became a prominent figure in the New York Graffiti/Post Graffiti art movement.

Devoted to graffiti and street art, the exhibition Born in the Streets will bring to light the extraordinary expansion of an artistic movement that developed in the streets of New York in the early 1970s to rapidly become a world-wide phenomenon.

Today, graffiti has entered the cultural mainstream, crossing over to the realms of studio art, design and advertising. Yet despite its immense popularity, this essentially illegal activity continues to evolve at the periphery of the contemporary art world, its origins and evolution little-known to the general public.

The exhibition at the Fondation Cartier attempts to sketch the general contours of a subject that is vast and complex, encompassing many different ideas, media and movements across its boundaries.

Wim Delvoye Mudam Luxembourg

Wim Delvoye has created the metallic, gothic-inspired chapel with stained glass windows containing subversive imagery specially for Mudam. The artist makes reference to his own work in black, grey and coloured glass. Obscene gestures, kisses, human intestines and skeletons are x-rayed.

Show graffiti at Helenbeck and Gismondi galleries Manhattan

On May 28, the Helenbeck and Gismondi galleries opened “Whole in the Wall,” a combined show of graffiti and antique furniture at the former Splashlight Studios in Midtown Manhattan. The show, running through June 27, brings together many of the first generation New York graffiti writers, like Lin Felton, known as Quik, and Aaron Goodstone, known as Sharp, with top-flight European artists, like the stencil painters Blek le Rat, of France, and Banksy, from Britain, and other contributors to the global urban landscape, including the ubiquitous Nunca, from Brazil. If the organizers were inclined to heed preopening warnings that New York might not be ready to welcome back the train taggers of yesteryear, many of whom have since found a more appreciative refuge in Europe, they need not have worried. Exposition "Metro Art Memory" à Bruxelles.

La STIB (Société des Transports Intercommunaux de Bruxelles) expose du 29 mai au 26 septembre 2009 sous le titre « metro art memory » les travaux préparatoires d'une partie des oeuvres d'art du métro bruxellois dans son nouveau siège de la rue des Colonies. On y découvre pêle-mêle esquisses, lettres, maquettes et avant-projets d'artistes tels Alechinsky, Raveel, Somville, Hergé et bien d'autres. Et de se demander, en quittant l'exposition, quand la SNCB fera-t-elle preuve de la même audace artistique ... Entrée gratuite, ouvert du mercredi au samedi de 15 à 19h. Né en 1958, Keith Haring a puisé son inspiration dans la rue, la musique et la danse, son style s'exprimait principalement dans le métro new-yorkais et sur les murs de la ville.



Artiste protéiforme, l'exposition intitulée « Keith Haring all-over » présente 150 oeuvres peintes sur différents supports, sculptures, dessins et vidéos des années 1980 - 1990.
